Since joining the Port Phillip Specialist School (PPSS) Foundation Board in July 2019, Melanie has provided valuable strategic legal advice and direction to the board. She was appointed as Deputy Chairperson in May 2021.

A corporate lawyer by background, Melanie is currently Executive, Colleague Strategy, Enablement & Governance at National Australia Bank where she is responsible for HR strategy, risk and governance; employee and industrial relations; and health and safety. Prior to this appointment, Melanie has held various legal, risk and regulatory roles over her 12-year career at NAB. Prior to joining NAB, Melanie spent 9 years in private practice at Mallesons Stephen Jaques (now, King & Wood Mallesons) as a mergers and acquisitions lawyer.

Passionate about seeing children with disabilities provided with fulfilling learning opportunities, she was keen to apply her skills with a not for profit board who could utilise her legal, risk and regulatory experience to further its goals.

Melanie enjoyed watching the school kitchen be built where students learnt practical cooking and hospitality skills. At the grand opening in late 2019 she was able to sample the foods created and served by the PPSS students under the guidance of their teachers.

In her spare time, Melanie enjoys keeping fit at her local gym and spending as much family time as she can with her husband and 3 young daughters.

Melanie holds a Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Laws (First Class Honours) degrees, has completed post-graduate studies in Applied Finance & Investment, and is a recent graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Director’s course.
